NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that the New Orleans property she was leasing collapsed.

Lear Bannister filed a lawsuit Jan. 12 against Spanish Villa LLC, doing business as Super AWAS LLC, Covington Specialty Insurance Co., Central Realty of Louisiana Inc. and ABC insurance company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a tenant of the Spanish Villa LLC's property, located at 2900/2902 Baronne St., New Orleans, Jan. 18, 2016, when the incident took place. The suit states that the property was poorly maintained and that the plaintiff exited the property when she noticed shifting of the home occurring; however, upon leaving the home, the entire residency collapsed, rendering the plaintiff robbed of all of her personal items.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to maintain the property that they knew was in disrepair, failing to warn of the potential for this dangerous condition to occur and overall negligence through failing to take the appropriate actions.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney Michael J. Begoun and T. Daniel Pick of Wolfe, Begoun & Pick LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
