Mother claims child was attacked at KIPP Leadership Academy

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman claims that her child was attacked by a school employee/supervised volunteer.

Stephanie Lewis, as natural tutrix of a minor child, filed a lawsuit Jan. 4 against York Risk Services, KIPP Schools of New Orleans, ABC security company, Erney Williams and Hereneisha Dukes in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the child was walking in the hall of KIPP Leadership Academy school on Jan. 5, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that Williams, who was employed by the KIPP Leadership Academy, attacked the plaintiff.

The defendants are accused of negligence through failing to monitor and train its employees adequately.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Daryl A. Gray of Gray Law Group LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
