Couple blames parking lot owners for fall, injuries

NEW ORLEANS – A couple is suing owners of a parking lot, alleging its negligence led to a fall that injured one of the plaintiffs.

Owen Casnave and Angela Casnave filed a lawsuit Jan. 18 against SP Plus Corporation in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Owen Casnave was in New Orleans on May 1, 2016. The suit says after walking through a parking lot to pay for parking, Casnave, was caused to slip and fall, thus leading to injuries and causing him to be sent to University of New Orleans for medical attention.

The defendant is accused of failing to create a safe environment, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in the maintenance of the property.

The Casnaves seek all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. They are represented by attorneys J. Neale DeGravelles and Benjamin Treuting of Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
