NEW ORLEANS – A Gretna restaurant is accused of unlawfully broadcasting a sports event.

J&J Sports Productions Inc. filed a complaint on Jan. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Chilito’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar Inc., doing business as Chilitos Seafood Restaurant; Marlen Janet Talavera; and Gladis Lopez Fuentes alleging that they violated the Cable & Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 22, 2014, plaintiff was the exclusive domestic distributor of the televised fight Manny Pacquiao v. Chris Algieri, WBO Welterweight Championship Fight Program. As a result of the defendants' alleged unlawful actions, the plaintiff claims it suffered monetary damages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, litigation costs and all other just and proper relief. It is represented by Ronnie J. Berthelot of The Berthelot Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
