Woman says cart left in her path caused her to trip, fall at New Orleans Hyatt

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages following a fall in a New Orleans Hyatt hotel.

Phyllis Harris filed a lawsuit Jan. 27 against Ares Management Group LLC, Hyatt Corp., Hyatt Louisiana LLC and National Union Fire Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans at 601 Loyola Ave., New Orleans on March 6 when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff tripped and fell when she walked into a wooden cart that had been left in her path. The fall resulted in fractures to her right and left radius, in addition to other injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to create a safe environment, failing to keep guests safe and overall negligence in lack of property management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by Pierce A. Hammond II and Shelley Hammond Provosty of Hammond Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
