Jefferson Parish company claims Quarter Holdings didn't warn of potential for fire

NEW ORLEANS – A company in Jefferson Parish is seeking damages following a fire.

Surath International LLC filed a lawsuit Jan. 26 against Quarter Holdings LLC, Golden Perfume Inc. and Sweet Sticky Stuff LLC in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the defendant is the owner of certain property where the plaintiff operated. The suit states that a fire occurred on Jan. 26, 2016, which was caused by negligence on the defendant's property. The plaintiff's property and inventory was caused to suffer damages.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to prevent the fire, failing to warn the tenants of the potential for fire and overall negligence in the handling of the situation.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Byron Miller Forrest of The Forrest Law Firm, New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
