LAFAYETTE – A Texas man claims he was injured during a transfer from a vessel to a rig.
Ronald Maddox filed a complaint on Jan. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against
Group USA Inc., Candy Dancer LLC, Diamond Offshore Co. and Candy Fleet LLC
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 26, 2014, while waiting to board a personnel basket for transfer, defendant M/V Candy Dancer suddenly struck defendant Diamond Offshore's jack-up vessel, Ocean King, causing him to fall to the deck of the vessel and sustain injuries. Plaintiff alleges he suffered lost wages, medical expenses and physical and mental pain. The plaintiff holds Compass Group USA Inc., Candy Dancer LLC, Diamond Offshore Co. and Candy Fleet LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to conduct a safe transfer, failed to provide competent crane operator and crew, negligently carried out personnel transfer in a dangerous weather and failed to provide maintenance and cure benefits.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, jointly, severally and in solido, for damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus interest, costs of this suit and all other relief that the law may allow. He is represented by Kristi A. Post and Lawrence Blake Jones of Sheuermann & Jones in New Orleans.
