NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man employed by a network of restaurants and bars in the French Quarter has filed a class-action suit alleging labor code violations.
Adam Weber, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on Feb. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Famous Bourbon Management Group Inc., La Beauti Inc., Jaxx’s House Inc., et al. alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for defendants at their locations throughout the New Orleans French Quarter and was paid a day rate, between $40 to $65, for at least eight to 12 hours of work per shift. In this manner, he alleges was not paid the federally mandated $7.25 per hour. The plaintiff holds Famous Bourbon Management Group Inc., La Beauti Inc., Jaxx’s House Inc., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the federally mandated minimum wage for every hour that he worked and failed to pay him at a rate of one-and-one-half times his regular rate of pay for each hour that he worked in excess of 40 per week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all unpaid wages, an equal amount in liquidated damages, plus interest, attorney’s fees, and all other relief to which he is entitled.
