Jefferson Parish motorist blames another driver for crash

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish motorist is suing another driver, alleging the defendant's negligence caused a car crash.  

Gaylean Nanlal filed a suit Feb. 15 against Hallmark County Mutual Insurance Company, MEI Transportation Services Inc and Ismael Garcia, in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging reckless driving.

According to the claim, on Feb. 23, 2016, Nanlal was at the intersection of Cousins Boulevard and Paxton Street in Jefferson Parish. The suit states Garcia backed his vehicle into the plaintiff's car, resulting in damages to Nanlal's vehicle and injuries to her person.

The defendant is accused of reckless driving, failing to keep a lookout and failing to take the proper responsibility in operating a motor vehicle.

Nanlal seeks all reasonable monetary damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Douglas J. Womac Jr. of Law Offices of Edward J. Womac Jr. & Associates LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 769088.
