NEW ORLEANS – The government is seeking injunction against a tax return preparer over allegations that she prepares and files fraudulent tax returns.

United States of America filed a complaint on Feb. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Tiga Bryant, individually and doing business as Denson's Fast Tax Service, alleging failure to comply with Earned Income Tax Credit due diligence requirements.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of defendant's misconduct, the government has suffered and will continue to suffer irreparable harm in the form of lost revenues unless she is enjoined by the court. The plaintiff holds Bryant responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to satisfy the due diligence requirements of her clients' tax returns by failing to request her customers' record and documentations to verify the their eligibility for the EITC.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction prohibiting defendant from acting as a federal tax return preparer, an order requiring defendant to contact all persons for whom she has prepared federal tax returns or claims for refund for tax years 2008 through 2016, and all other relief, including costs, as is just and reasonable. The government is represented by Kenneth A. Polite Jr., David Hubbert and Christopher R. Moran of U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
