Tulane University employee alleges she was wrongfully terminated because of age, disability

Wrongful term 01

NEW ORLEANS – A woman formerly employed by the Newcomb Art Gallery in New Orleans alleges she was terminated while on medical leave.

Sally Main filed a complaint on Feb. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Tulane University alleging that the research university violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff began working for the defendant in 1982. The plaintiff alleges that on July 30, 2015, she was terminated from her employment and she has suffered damages in the form of loss of income and benefits, emotional distress and/or mental anguish. The plaintiff holds Tulane University responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against her on the basis of her disability, failed to provide reasonable accommodation and has been retaliated against for engaging in a protected activity.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, for all sums as are reasonable under the premises, attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses, and all other relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Christa Hayes Forrester of Peragine Law Firm LLC in Covington.
