Community college alleges student owes more than $1,500

NEW ORLEANS – A community college is suing a student, alleging she owes more than $1,500.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System, through Delgado Community College, filed a lawsuit Feb. 22 against Keirsten Yvonne Garnett in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the college allowed Garnett to attend its institution for the fall 2012 semester. The suit says she accumulated a balance of $1,575.60 and has failed to pay off the balance.

The college seeks all money owed, court costs and all appropriate relief. It is represented by assistant state attorney general Rokeya J. Morris of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
