Orleans Parish woman alleges dog attack

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a dog owner, alleging the woman's pet attacked her.  

Karen J. Conaway and John R. Deal filed a lawsuit Feb. 23 against Jo Anna Mae Amlin and XYZ Insurance Company in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 16 Conaway was at Poor Boys Bar, 1328 St. Bernard Ave, New Orleans. The suit states Conaway was attacked by Amlin's dog. The lawsuit states the dog's bites were so severe that the plaintiff had to undergo skin graft surgery on her hip and has suffered trauma and loss of enjoyment of life.

Amlin is accused of negligently failing to control the dogs, putting others in danger and overall negligence.

Conaway seeks reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She plaintiff is represented by attorney Gilbert R. Buras Jr. of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
