Customer blames supermarket for fall

GRETNA – An Orleans Parish woman is suing a Harvey supermarket, alleging the store's negligence caused her to fall.

Jacqueline Davis filed a suit March 7 against Arch Insurance Company and Marque's Food Distributors Inc., doing business as Marque's Food Wholesale Supermarket, in 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, Davis was at the defendant's premises at 2320 8th St., Harvey, on March 11, 2016. The suit states Davis slipped and fell on a liquid that had been left on the ground when she was walking toward the produce section, leading to injuries for the plaintiff.  

The defendant is accused of negligently failing to clean up the premises, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in relation to the incident.

Davis seeks reasonable damages, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Mark W. Smith of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
