DHD Offshore Services employee claims bench caused him to fall

NEW ORLEANS – A Houma seaman alleges a bench that wasn't properly secured caused him injuries while working.

Derick Diggs filed a complaint on March 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against DHD Offshore Services LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 23, 2016, he was working as a crew member aboard defendant's vessel when he sustained severe and disabling injuries after falling from a bench that was not adequately secured to the vessel. The plaintiff holds DHD Offshore Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect and/or plan for potential hazards aboard the platform,.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for all damages that are reasonable in the premises, plus interest, costs of these proceedings and all other general and equitable relief. He is represented by Brian King, Jason F. Giles and James E. Courtenay of The King Firm LLC in New Orleans.
