University alleges student owes nearly $1,900

NEW ORLEANS – A university is suing a student, alleging she owes nearly $1,900.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, through Southeastern Louisiana University, filed a lawsuit March 2 against Jessie Poche III and 739 Iberville LLC as garnishee in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging sums due.

According to the complaint, Poche became indebted to the university for the balance of $1,872.80, plus interest and late fees. The suit states the university believes 739 Iberville is indebted or is the employer of the plaintiff.

Southeastern Louisiana seeks all sums due, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. It is represented by assistant state attorney Meghan N. Beal of Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
