BJ's Restaurant Inc. patron alleges she was injured in fall on premises

Slip01

BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge restaurant patron claims she was injured in a fall because of a liquid substance on the restaurant's floor.

Cara Oetjens filed a complaint on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against BJ's Restaurant Operations Co. and BJ's Restaurant Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 24, 2016, she was a patron of defendants' BJ's restaurant in Baton Rouge when she slipped on an unreasonably dangerous substance on the floor. She alleges she sustained serious injuries that resulted in physical and mental pain, lost wages and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds BJ's Restaurant Operations Co. and BJ's Restaurant Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide sufficient and adequate lighting in the area and failed to take reasonable measures to clean or remove the dangerous substance on the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all damages allowed by law, plus interest, costs and attorney's fees. She is represented by Scott M. Hawkins of Hawkins Oetjens LLC in Baton Rouge.
