Man claims Sensible Portions terminated him for sexual harassment complaints

Wrongful term 12

NEW ORLEANS – A St. Tammany Parish man alleges his former Mandeville employer terminated him after reporting sexual harassment.

Michael T. Torres filed a complaint on March 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Sensible Portions Inc. alleging that the former employer violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 1, 2016, he was terminated from his employment for complaining of sexual harassment against a female co-employee. He alleges he remained unemployed until Feb. 23, 2017. The plaintiff holds Sensible Portions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against him for filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and liquidated damages, interest, costs and expenses, attorney fees and such other and further relief that the court deems necessary and proper. He is represented by Paul F. Bell of Bell Law Firm LLC in Baton Rouge.
