Jefferson Parish woman claims puddle in Wal-Mart caused her to slip, fall

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she was injured when she slipped on melted ice in a Wal-Mart.

Deborah Perez filed a suit March 28 against Wal-Mart Store Inc., Wal-Mart Associates Inc. and Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is a resident of Jefferson Parish and was a guest at the Wal-Mart on Williams Boulevard on March 28, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff was caused to slip and fall when she encountered a puddle of water on the ground that had formed due to a leaking ice machine.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to clean up the water, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence in the management of the property.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John L. Young in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 770425.
