NEW ORLEANS — Two individuals claim that a cancelled sale of an RV caused them distress.

Galen M. Hair and Amanda Amaya-Shaw filed a lawsuit March 17 against Chubbies Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging fraud.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs are residents of Orleans Parish. The suit states that defendants began to advertise an RV for sale known by the name of Ronald the Recreational Vehicle. The suit states that the plaintiffs were in touch with a sales rep from the defendant and that they negotiated the price down to $36,000, however, following the agreement on the price, the defendants became impossible to contact. The defendants ultimately chose not to honor the agreement and instead maintain the RV in their ownership, causing monetary loss and emotional distress to the plaintiffs.

The defendant is accused of bad faith, breach of contract and fraud, as well as detrimental reliance and violation of the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Sarah M. Kalis of Scott, Vicknair, Hair & Checki LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Ethel S. Julien.
