NEW ORLEANS – A community college is seeking damages for a student's open account.

Louisiana Community and Technical College System, through Delgado Community College, filed a lawsuit March 13 against Anthony Michael Ruiz in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging an open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff allowed the defendant to attend the college during the spring 2014 semester, during which time he accumulated a balance of $970.58. The defendant has failed to pay off the balance, the complaint said.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Meghan Beal of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher Bruno.
