Woman claims she was caused to slip and fall after Cypress Run Apartments failed to repair leak

NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims that she was caused to slip and fall in her apartment due to a leak.

Gwendolyn LeBlanc filed a lawsuit against Thibaut Properties "C" Corp., doing business as Cypress Run Apartments, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a resident of Orleans Parish and lived in the defendant's apartment at Cypress Run Apartments, 6101 Tullis Drive, New Orleans. The plaintiff was concerned when she noticed a puddle of water in her bathroom, washroom, hallway and doorways for her kitchen and bedroom. The defendant found that the leak was from an apartment adjacent to the plaintiff's but failed to repair it in a timely manner. The plaintiff was caused to slip and fall on April 2, 2016, due to the puddle of water.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to manage the property, failing to remedy the situation and overall negligence of property management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Bryan K. Jefferson of Foley, Lamy & Jefferson in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
