Stone Clinical labs says contractor unplugged refrigerators during work, damaging property

NEW ORLEANS — A clinical lab is seeking damages after it claims some of its property was ruined due to refrigerator leaks caused by a contractor.

Stone Clinical Laboratories LLC filed a lawsuit March 29 against Bomanite of New Orleans Inc. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is a laboratory which offers services in diagnostics and testing. The suit states that on Oct. 29, 2016, a contractor that was performing a job for the plaintiff, subcontracted by the defendant, unplugged some refrigerators that were on the plaintiff's property, causing the plaintiff to suffer damages of $31,812.04.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to ensure that it fulfilled its job properly, failing to discuss its actions with the plaintiff beforehand and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Graham H. Williams of Adams and Reese LLP in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Kern A. Reese.
