AT&T seeking payment for damage to underground cables

GRETNA – AT&T is seeking damages for underground cable destruction.

Bellsouth Telecommunications LLC, doing business as AT&T Louisiana, filed a suit April 7 against La Pequena Construction LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff discovered damages to its underground cables on Jan. 10, at 2820 Mt. Kennedy Drrive, Marrero. The suit states that the damages to the cables were caused by the defendant when it had undertaken road repairs.

The defendant is accused of negligence through failing to take the necessary precautions, failing to know what was underground and failing to exercise the appropriate standard of work.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Michael B. Alker of Sutton, Alker & Rather LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division G Judge E. Adrian Adams.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 770853.
