Man claims Lapalco Motors provided false VIN for vehicle, refused to return down payment

GRETNA – A man claims a car dealer refused to return down payment.

Bruce M. Deverney of Jefferson Parish filed a suit April 5 against Lapalco Motors LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the claim, the plaintiff bought a 2013 Nissan Altima on Dec. 4, 2016. The suit states that the plaintiff paid $14,999. The suit states that the plaintiff found that the VIN was unable to be associated with the vehicle purchased, and the plaintiff then returned the car to the defendant. The defendant, however, failed to return the plaintiff's down payment of $2,000.

The defendant is accused of unfair trade practices and breach of contract.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Gerald Wasserman of Gerald Wasserman LLC in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 770744.
