Woman claims New Orleans dentist was negligent

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming that a dentist caused her physical pain.

Whitney Picquet filed a lawsuit April 12 against Dr. William Mathurin in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was scheduled to have an apicoectomy for a root canal issue. The suit states that on April 19, 2016, the plaintiff was injured when the dentist hurt her nasal cavity. The plaintiff suffered both physical pain and financial stress due to the negligence in the defendant's care, according to the claim.

The defendant is accused of negligence and medical malpractice.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. She is represented by attorney David A. Abramson of Lewis, Kullman, Sterbcow & Abramson in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
