Jefferson Parish man claims he was shot in the hand while visiting New Orleans residents' home

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish man is seeking damages for an incident in which he was accidentally shot in the hand.

Peter C. Napollitano filed a lawsuit May 1 against Conchetta Segretto, Joseph Segretto, Allstate Insurance Co. and XYZ Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff, a resident of Jefferson Parish, was visiting the defendants at their residence of 6245 General Diaz St., New Orleans on Aug. 20, 2016. The suit states that the defendant invited the plaintiff to look at his gun collection and that during this exchange, the plaintiff was shot in his left hand.

The defendant is accused of negligence through encouraging the plaintiff to take part in a dangerous action, failing to take the proper precautions, failing to check and see that the gun was not loaded and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Kayla L. Ackel of Metairie and Eusi H. Phillips of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
