Orleans Parish woman allegedly failed to repay promissory note

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking sums for a promissory note.

University of Louisiana system Board of Supervisors through University of New Orleans filed a lawsuit April 27 against Meagan Burke of Orleans Parish in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging sums due on a promissory note.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff issued a promissory note to the defendant for the balance of $2,000. The defendant has failed to pay off the balance of the note.

The defendant is accused of sums due.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Scott L. Smith Jr. of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
