Woman claims wet staircase at Bourbon Bandstand caused fall

Slip01

NEW ORLEANS – A Florida couple has filed a suit against the owners of the Bourbon Bandstand after the wife was allegedly injured there in a fall because of a wet staircase.

Esther Lily Jernigan and Scott Jernigan filed a complaint on May 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Promenade Entertainment LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 20, 2016, Esther Jernigan was injured at defendant's Bourbon Bandstand when she slipped and fell down the staircase and sustained serious injuries to her ankle and right lower leg. Scott Jernigan alleges she suffered loss of consortium and services of his wife.

The plaintiffs holds Promenade Entertainment LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate lighting in the area and failed to provide warning signs that the staircase was wet and dangerous.

The plaintiffs seek award for damages that will fairly compensate them for the injuries and losses they sustained, plus interest and costs of these proceedings. They are represented by Jeanne Andry Landry of Arthur W. Landry and Jeanne Andry Landry LLC in New Orleans and Elizabeth S. Meneray of Meneray Family Law LLC in New Orleans.
