Jefferson Parish woman claims collision with truck caused injuries

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she was injured after her car was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Carolyn Clay filed a suit May 10 against QBE Insurance Corp., Sunderland Trucking LLC and Daryl J. Adams in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was driving on Aug. 26. 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff was on Greencrest Drive in East Baton Rouge near a trash truck that was picking up debris. The plaintiff attempted to drive around the truck when the defendant started driving, colliding with her vehicle, according to court documents. As a result of the collision, the plaintiff alleges she suffered injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to avoid injuring the plaintiff, failing to see where the plaintiff's car was and overall negligence in managing the situation.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by R. Brent Cueria of The Cueria Law Firm LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan, Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case number 771777.
