New Orleans man claims insurance provider failed to pay for tornado damage

NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans man claims that he was not reimbursed by his insurance company for damages.

Duane McCorkle filed a lawsuit May 2 against United Property & Casualty Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff's property was damaged in February following a tornado. The suit states that despite filing for damages with the defendant, the plaintiff has not been compensated for his losses.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney M. Ali Shahlaei in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.

Orleans Parish Civil District Court case number 17-4177.
