Jefferson Parish woman seeks damages after she slipped and fell on a rug

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman claims that she was caused to trip on a rug at a convention center.

Inez Dogu filed a lawsuit May 15 against Chubb National Insurance Co., Water Environment Federation, Freeman Exposition Inc. and Natalie Cimo in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the defendant's property at 900 Convention Center Blvd., New Orleans. The suit states that the plaintiff was walking on the property when she was caused to trip and fall on an improperly placed carpet.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to ensure that the premises were safe for the guests, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence of management.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney James L. Leathem of Morris Bart LLC in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
