NEW ORLEANS – A Terrebonne Parish man alleges that he needed surgery and continues to have mobility issues after he was beaten by a group of men and two police officers.

Ralph Badeaux filed a complaint on May 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Hurricane Hole Management LLC, Grand Isle Police Department, Officer John Does, et al. alleging that they violated the Fourth and 14h Amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was working for Pelican Waste Disposal on May 18, 2016, and was speaking to an unidentified man while waiting for a piece of equipment to be moved. He alleges that a superintendent from the Hurricane Hole began yelling at him and punched plaintiff in the face without warning. The suit states that five unidentified males then began kicking and punching the plaintiff and that two men who identified themselves as Grand Isle police officers also beat the plaintiff.

The plaintiff holds Hurricane Hole Management LLC, Grand Isle Police Department, Officer John Does, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly unlawfully seized plaintiff by using excessive and shocking physical force.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, attorney's fees, costs of this action and all further relief as the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Jerri G. Smitko of Smitko Law in Houma.
