Jefferson Parish man claims he was injured when a plane landed too quickly

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that he was injured in a plane landing.

Derek Lightell of Jefferson Parish filed a lawsuit May 16 against ABC Insurance Co., Pneuma Aviation LLC and Curtis Smith in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was a passenger on a plane that was owned and operated by the defendant April 23. The suit states that the plaintiff was injured when Smith made a forced landing. The plaintiff was tossed during the landing, sustaining injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to operate the plane with enough care, failing to warn the plaintiff in enough time of the danger and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. He is represented by R. Brent Cueria of Cueria Law Firm in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Nakisha Ervin-Knott.
