NEW ORLEANS – A Tangipahoa Parish man alleges he was injured while working as a Union Pacific locomotive engineer.

Nestor Luis Sosa Jr. filed a complaint on May 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Progressive Casualty Insurance Co. & Imperium Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in Feb. 6, 2017, he sustained injuries to his neck and back and incurred medical expenses due a train-truck accident caused by the negligence of defendants' insured motorist. The suit states the driver entered the railroad crossing despite active warnings.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for pain and suffering, past lost wages, unpaid medical expenses and other counts.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all sums reasonable in the premises, plus interest, costs of these proceedings and for all general and equitable relief. He is represented by Joseph M. Miller, Benjamin B. Saunders and Carisa German-Ogden of Davis, Saunders, Miller & Oden PLC in Mandeville.
