Orleans Parish man seeks damages after he fell over a pole on the ground

NEW ORLEANS – An Orleans Parish man claims he fell on a pole that was left in a dangerous place.

Burnell Harris filed a lawsuit June 2 against Bellsouth Telecommunications LLC, doing business as AT&T Louisiana, and Entergy Corp., also known as Entergy New Orleans Inc., also known as Entergy Louisiana Inc., doing business as Entergy, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place June 4, 2016, on the sidewalk near Broad Street and Washington Avenue. The suit states that the defendant had left a pole lying on the sidewalk and that the plaintiff tripped and fell over it.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to maintain its property, failing to repair the fallen pole and failing to warn of the danger it posed.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Ryan J. Hughes and Robert T. Hughes in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division E Judge Clare Jupiter.
