Southern University seeks more than $1,500 from Orleans Parish resident

NEW ORLEANS – A university is seeking damages for an open account.

Southern University Board of Supervisors through Southern University-New Orleans filed a lawsuit June 15 against Obea Theophile of Orleans Parish in Orleans Parish Civil District Court alleging open account.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an open account which the defendant has failed to pay off. The suit states that the defendant currently owes the plaintiff $1,817,71.

The defendant is accused of open account.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Wendy Ramnarine of the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher Bruno.
