NEW ORLEANS – A Terrebonne Parish woman alleges that she has suffered economic damages as a direct result of the Deepwater Horizon spill.

Anna Deroche filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against BP Exploration & Production Inc., Transocean LTD, Halliburton Energy Services Inc., et al. citing the Oil Pollution Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that as a result of the oil spill caused by defendants' on April 20, 2010, she has suffered economic injury, damages and/or losses in the form of lost wages and loss of earning capacity. 

The plaintiff holds BP Exploration & Production Inc., Transocean LTD, Halliburton Energy Services Inc., et al. responsible because she submitted a claim to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility and/or Deepwater Horizon Economic Claim Center and that the claim allegedly has not been denied or settled by the defendants within 90 days after presentation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks economic, compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, attorneys’ fees and costs and all further relief as the court deems just and appropriate.
