BATON ROUGE – The owners of a Zachary property have filed suit against their insurer seeking reimbursement for flood damages allegedly sustained by the property.

Bradley Van Der Weide and Jessica Van Der Weide filed a complaint on June 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against Wrights National Flood Insurance Co. citing the National Flood Insurance Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between Aug. 13, 2016, and Aug. 15, 2016, a catastrophic rain and flood caused substantial damage to plaintiff's property. They allege that the defendant and its adjuster significantly undervalued the damages and failed to pay for all damages.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages as are reasonable in the premises, plus interest, costs of these proceedings and such other lawful and equitable relief. They are represented by David A. Lowe of Keegan, DeNicola, Kiesel, Bagwell, Juban & Lowe LLC in Baton Rouge.
