Couple seeks damages for slip and fall in a Burger King

GRETNA – A couple claims the wife to was injured in a slip and fall because of Burger King's negligence.

Janice and Jimmie Westerfield filed a suit against Strategic Restaurants Acquisition Co. LLC, doing business as Burger King; Burger King Corp.; Restaurant Units Corp.; Burger King; and XYZ Insurance Co. in the 24th Judicial District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the claim, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place July 19, 2016. The suit states that Janice Westerfield was at the Burger King at 3651 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey when the incident occurred. The plaintiff allegedly slipped in a puddle of liquid left on the ground, causing her to fall and strike her head and hip on the ground.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly clean the premises or place appropriate warnings about the condition of the floor.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John D. Sileo in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
