Woman claims Harrah's gaming device door injured her knee

NEW ORLEANS – A woman is seeking damages, claiming a defective door fell on her knee.

Earline Gilbert filed a lawsuit against Jazz Casino Company LLC, doing business as Harrah's New Orleans Casino, in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place July 23, 2016, at  228 Poydras St., New Orleans. The plaintiff claims that a broken door from a game fell on her knee, causing injuries.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly fix the door, failing to warn of the danger and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorney Francis M. Olivier in Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Piper D. Griffin.
