Man claims water on floor at Cheesecake Bistro by Copeland's caused him to slip

NEW ORLEANS – A man claims that he slipped and fell in a restaurant entrance.

Chad Jolly filed a lawsuit against Choice Hotels International Inc.; Clarion Grand Boutique Hotel Located at 2001 St. Charles Avenue; the business located at 2001 St. Charles Avenue, doing business as Cheesecake Bistro by Copeland's; Al Copeland Investments LLC; Copeland's of New Orleans LLC; Susan Lazow; and Jan Zackin in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for an incident that took place July 25, 2016. As the plaintiff walked into Cheesecake Bistro by Copeland's, he was slipped and fell in a puddle of water that had been left by the door. The plaintiff claims he suffered serious injuries due to the fall.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to warn of the danger and failing to clean up the mess.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Kevin M. Riley and Michael D. Riley in New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Christopher J. Bruno.
