Jefferson Parish man says Home Depot failed to clean up substance on floor

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish man claims he was caused to slip and fall in a Home Depot.

Salvador Soleto filed a lawsuit against Home Depot USA, ABC Employees and DEF Insurance Co. in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was at the Home Depot at 1100 S. Claiborne Ave. in New Orleans on Aug. 27, 2016, when the incident occurred. The suit states that the plaintiff slipped and fell on a wet substance that had been left on the ground and was injured.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to warn of the mess or clean it up and overall negligence.

The plaintiff seeks all reasonable damages, court costs, attorney fees and all appropriate relief. The plaintiff is represented by James E. Shields Sr. of Shields & Shields APLC in Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R. Irons.
