Woman alleges Magnolia Community Services terminated her over false allegations she stole candy from client

GRETNA – A Jefferson woman alleges she was wrongly accused of stealing from a client by her former employer.

Valerie Henderson filed a suit June 4 against Magnolia Community Services Inc. and XYZ insurance company in the 24th Judicial District Court alleging defamation and wrongful termination.

According to the claim, the plaintiff was hired as an assistant in the vocational department by the defendant in 2014. She alleges she was terminated in June 2017 after she was falsely accused of stealing candy from a client. She alleges she was terminated without just cause and no investigation was conducted.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $100,000 and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Pamela W. Carter and Francine Guigno of Carter Law Group LLC in River Ridge.

The case has been assigned to Division H Judge Glenn B. Ansardi.
