Disaster Recovery Unit files legal action seeking $150,000

GRETNA – The State of Louisiana claims it is owed $150,000 on an unpaid grant.

The State of Louisiana Division of Administration Office of Community Development Disaster Recovery Unit filed a complaint on Feb. 7 in the 24th Judicial District Court against Charles Faux Childress Jr. and Marliane W. Childress.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff is seeking damages for sums due on an unpaid grant. The suit states the defendant has failed to pay off the balance of $150,000 from a grant that was to be used for home repairs. The defendant allegedly misused the funding and has failed to pay back the grant funds.

The defendant is accused of sums due on an unpaid grant.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by John Walsh of Shows, Cali & Walsh LLP in Baton Rouge.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen Enright Jr.

The 24th Judicial District Court Case No. is 792013.
