Woman sues Farberware for injury due to pressure cooker

Federal Court
Courtgavel456

SHREVEPORT - Gabrielle Moore filed a federal complaint on November 10 in the Western District of Louisiana against Farberware Licensing Company, LLC d/b/a Farberware Cookware for violation of the Louisiana Products Liability Act.

According to the complaint, Farberware is engaged in the business of designing, manufacturing, warranting, marketing, importing, distributing, and selling pressure cookers. Farberware boasts that its pressure cookers have a “large locking lid to prevent the cooker from opening while pressurized," the suit says.

Moore alleges that on Nov. 17, 2020, she was using a Farberware pressure cooker when the contents of the pressure cooker were forcefully ejected out of the pot and onto her, causing severe disfiguring burns to her arms and breasts. Moore alleges that the pressure cooker was defectively and negligently designed in that it failed to properly function as to prevent the lid from being removed with normal force while the unit remained pressurized.

Moore is represented by Louis L. Gertler of The Gertler Law Firm.
