In the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, plaintiffs Sherrie Hoon and Jadelyn Hoon have filed a lawsuit against General Motors LLC. The case, with ID 2:24-cv-00908-LMA-KWR, was filed on April 11, 2024. The lawsuit alleges that a vehicle purchased by the plaintiffs from General Motors was defective in materials and workmanship.

The plaintiffs, residents of Louisiana, purchased a new 2024 Chevrolet Trax Sport Utility from Gerry Lane Chevrolet LLC on November 17, 2023. The sales price of the vehicle was $29,618.14. According to the complaint, upon delivery, the vehicle had computer system defects and camera defects which were discovered within the warranty periods.

Despite numerous attempts to get these defects repaired by General Motors and its authorized dealers, the issues persisted. The plaintiffs claim they directly notified General Motors about these defects on multiple occasions but to no avail.

The plaintiffs are seeking judgment against General Motors for breach of warranty and redhibition under Louisiana law. They are also seeking nonpecuniary damages under La. Civil Code Articles 1998 amounting to $50,000.
