Ala. couple accused of filing fraudulent Deepwater Horizon claim can't repay $1.6 million

NEW ORLEANS – An Alabama couple is denying accusations that they defrauded the Deepwater Horizon claims program and insist they cannot repay $1.6 million awarded to them through the program because the money went to pay off a judgment against them.

NEW ORLEANS – More than five years after the Deepwater Horizon explosion and the subsequent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, attorney Brent Coon and more than 3,000 of his clients have not received a hearing on their legal claims against BP PLC.
