Sprint employees sue for religious and pregnancy discrimination

The former manager and assistance manager of a Sprint store in Slidell filed suit against the company for religious and pregnancy discrimination.

Fallon W. Johnson and Angelle Milliet Tabor are suing Charles Acosta, Megan Brandt, Sprint Communications Co. and Sprint Nextel Corp. March 1 in St. Tammany Parish District Court. The defendants removed the case to federal court in New Orleans June 17.

The employees say they can prove they were wrongfully terminated based on a flawed audit which was timed to negate and lower their performance score since neither were present during the audit.

Johnson states she was terminated because of her pregnancy and Tabor claims religious discrimination, saying she was fired because of her religious beliefs.

The petitioners are seeking bad faith tort damages including mental anguish and emotional distress, monetary damages for past and future lost wages, general damages for pregnancy discrimination and religious discrimination, attorney fees, legal interest and court costs.

New Orleans attorney Willie M. Zanders is representing Johnson and Tabor.

U.S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier is assigned to the case.
