An Orleans Parish man is suing his insurance company for unpaid damage claims.
Van Williams filed a lawsuit Aug. 13 in Orleans Parish District Court demanding payment from Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.
According to the complaint, Williams owns two pieces of property on Music Street in New Orleans that were damaged by an explosion or fire in March 2009. Williams says the properties were insured by Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance under a policy that covered the type of damage incurred.
Williams says he filed a damage claim with the insurer but did not receive all of the money owed to him under his policy. He argues Louisiana Citizens violated Louisiana Insurance Code by failing to adjust his claim in a fair and reasonable way and for family to pay him in a timely fashion.
Williams is asking the Court award him full payment due under his insurance policy along with penalties, interest, attorney fees and court costs.
Attorney David W. Bernberg is representing Williams.
